About Us

Bale’s Farm provides a therapeutic outdoor learning environment for young people who may be struggling to engage with traditional education. Our aim is to re-engage, re-inspire and support young people to reach their full potential through practical, meaningful learning.

Based at a smallholding in Daccombe, we offer a range of indoor and outdoor learning spaces alongside opportunities to care for animals including chickens, ducks, rabbits and guinea pigs.

We support young people who may be unable to attend school, are awaiting a placement, are accessing EOTAS or alternative provision, working towards reintegration, or need additional SEMH support alongside their current education.

Our ethos is simple: to provide a safe, calm and welcoming environment where young people feel supported, valued and able to succeed.

Bale's Farm is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9:45am–3:00pm.

Outdoor Learning

At Bale’s Farm, we believe young people learn best when they can get involved and see the difference they are making. Our practical approach brings subjects like maths and science to life through real experiences, making learning meaningful and enjoyable.

The farm is also a wonderful place for young people to build confidence, independence and a sense of responsibility. They can develop valuable life skills and work towards ASDAN qualifications in areas such as gardening, life skills and animal care.

There’s plenty to get involved with, from planting and growing fruit and vegetables in our allotment to feeding, walking and caring for our animals. Young people can learn about animal care, habitats, diets and welfare while enjoying the benefits of spending time outdoors and caring for others.

At Bale’s Farm, our young people have plenty of opportunities to learn outdoors and explore the natural world around them. From nature walks and den building to stream dipping, crafts, games and environmental activities, learning is hands-on, practical and fun.

These activities help young people build confidence, independence and social skills, while encouraging teamwork, sharing and positive interactions with others.

Our friendly team use a range of communication approaches, including visual aids and gestures, to make sure every young person feels supported and able to take part.

At Bale’s Farm, we offer a diverse range of learning opportunities designed to build confidence, develop skills and inspire our young people. Explore what we offer below and discover how we can support each student’s individual learning journey.
