It’s been another busy and brilliant week of learning and experiences on the farm. Students have taken part in a wide range of activities, from topic work and cooking to animal care and community trips.
Agatha Christie 🕵️♀️
This week, students continued exploring the world of Agatha Christie through exciting mystery-based learning. We used CSI investigation packs to help us step into the role of detectives and solve fictional crimes.
Students examined clues carefully, discussed evidence, and worked together to piece together what might have happened. There was lots of problem-solving, teamwork, and critical thinking as everyone tried to crack the cases.
We also had a go at writing our own crime reports, describing events, suspects, and evidence in detail. It was a fantastic opportunity to develop writing skills while getting fully immersed in the world of detective work.

Jam or Cream First? 🤤
In cooking this week, students baked fresh scones — and sparked the age-old debate: jam or cream first? Everyone got involved in measuring, mixing, and baking, practising important kitchen and teamwork skills along the way. The best part, as always, was tasting the finished results together!

Our Family is Expanding!🐥
We are excited to share that more chicks have joined us on the farm!
Students have been helping to care for them, making sure they are safe, warm, and well looked after. This has been a wonderful opportunity to learn about responsibility and animal care, and everyone has enjoyed watching them grow and develop.

Community Visits 🧑🤝🧑
This week also included some fantastic community-based learning. Students visited Decoy, spent time at the beach, and enjoyed swimming activities.
These trips support confidence, independence, and social interaction, while giving students the chance to experience learning in different environments outside the classroom.

Post-16 Opportunities at Bale's Farm
Join us for our Post-16 Open Day on Wednesday 6th May – a great opportunity to explore what life and learning could look like beyond school. Whether you’re a young person, parent or professional, the day will give you a chance to meet the team, look around our setting, and find out more about our personalised approach to education.
Our Post-16 provision is designed to support young people with additional needs, offering a blend of practical learning, independence-building and real-world experiences. We provide a range of pathways including supported apprenticeships and supported internships, alongside recognised qualifications such as Functional Skills in maths, English and digital skills . These programmes are tailored to help learners develop confidence, gain valuable life skills, and prepare for their next steps into employment or further education.
